Banana Muffins

This is a wonderful banana muffin recipe. The muffins come out of the oven golden and moist filling the house with a wonderful fresh-baked smell.

Makes 12 muffins

Ingredients

3 Large Bananas 1/4 cup White Sugar 1 Egg 1 tsp Baking Soda 1 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour 1/3 cup Melted Butter

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease muffin tin, or place muffin papers in the tin. Mash bananas. In a seperate bowl, add sugar to egg and blend. In a seperate bowl, sift remaining dry ingredients. Add sugar and egg to the bananas and blend together. Add melted butter to the banana mixture and blend. Add 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup of the dry mixture to the banana mixture and blend in between each addition just until moistened. Fill muffin tins about 2/3 of the way. Bake for 20 minutes.

Baked French Fries

I love seasoned fries, but I can’t seem to get what I want no matter where I go or what I buy. So, I have been working on a recipe that makes me and the family happy, and this one finally made the cut!

Ingredients

4-6 Large Potatoes
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Seasoned Salt
1/2 tsp Creole Seasoning
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Pepper
1 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Lightly grease baking sheet and set aside
Cut Potatoes long ways to 1/2 inch pieces (optional: you can peel them or not)
Put them in a bowl and cover with cold water for 1/2 hour
While they sit, mix the dry ingredients in a small bowl
After the 1/2 hour is up, pat the potatoes dry with paper towels or any kitchen towel
Put the potatoes back into the dry bowl, and toss with the olive oil
Add your seasoning mixture to the potatoes and toss until evenly covered
Spread potatoes onto your baking sheet
Place in oven for 35-45minutes; checking regularly after 35 minutes due to differing ovens
Serve alone or with your favorite condiment!

Lighted Pine Cone Basket

This is an easy project that makes a beautiful piece in any size to place

around your house. I have placed mine in my entry room. You might make a

smaller version to set on a counter or table. Be creative and have fun with it!

Supplies:

A Basket (big enough to fit a strand of lights and pine cones)
Pine cones
A Strand of Lights (I used a 100 count)
Ribbon
Wreath (optional)
Scissors (to cut the ribbon)

Instructions:

Make a hole through the back of the basket for the lights to run through
Run the end of the strand of lights through the hole
Place the lights around the edge of the basket just to see where you want them
Wrap the ribbon around the edge of the basket and the lights, through various openings of the basket
If you are using a wreath, place the lights around this now by either wrapping it or pushing a light through an opening here and there
Place the rest of the lights in the basket
Put the pine cones in the basket and arrange them along with the lights around them until you are happy with it
Place it where you would like it and plug it in!

Bubble Art

This is a great project to do with your pre-schooler.

Step 1

Supplies: bowl, water, liquid dish soap, food coloring, straw, paper, crayons (optional)…..

Set-up: Fill your bowl with water then add a generous squirt of dish soap. Do not put the soap in first or it will be bubbly before the children get to it.

Step 2
Have your pre-schooler use the straw to blow into the soapy water. Please remember to remind them to blow through the straw and not suck through it. You may need to remind them a few times. Let them play and have fun with the bubbles.

Step 3
Add 5-10 drops of food coloring on top of the bubbles.

Step 4
Have your pre-schooler place their paper on top of the bubbles and push it down to the top of the bowl.

Step 5

Lift the paper and lay it down on the table. Help your pre-schooler admire his/her work! You can repeat with different colors on the same page, or color on it after it dries, or whatever you and your little one can imagine!!!

Miracle Grow

This evening the family and I were sitting around watching t.v. We noticed our 3 yr old son pulling and pulling his hair. When I asked him if everything was alright;

he said that it was not the right size!

I wish my hair would grow by pulling on it!

Game Night

We have decided to designate at least one night a week to playing games together as a family. We have to be creative and extremely patient since we have a house full of pre-schoolers. One game that we love…that the kids love is Candy Land! So the other night, we all sat around the table enjoying ice cream, a game, and each other!

Family Fun Day

One weekend this summer when we were visiting my sister, there was a kids carival about a half an hour from her house. She was actually helping out with a booth, and thought it would be fun for us to come along. It was wonderful! We all had so much fun together and it was totally free! That is always a bonus with kids. There was face painting, crafts and activities for the kids to do, free books, puppet shows and other entertainment, horse back riding, and much more. Since then we have checked into what types of events go on locally that we could take the family to. Little kids don’t expect much. They are happy just doing things together as a family. They truly know what is important…and they don’t even know it!!! Check out your own town and find out what it has going on. You might have more fun than you expect!
